Polkadot’s wallet built on the polkadot-js stack has now added both the mainnet and testnet versions of RioChain to its interface. RioChain is now listed together with a dozen of other promising projects including Kusama, Darwinia, Centrifuge and Edgeware.
Polkadot{js} acts as a browser extension and gives RioChain users another option to manage their accounts. Once downloaded and added to Chrome or Firefox browser, users can sign their transactions using this interface, providing them with additional ways of accessing RioChain assets. By using this browser extension, RioWallet owners can also benefit from Polkadot’s phishing feature which detects malicious websites from its curated list to help protect users from scams.
Developers can also explore other tools provided by Polkadot{.js} such as command-line, node monitoring, or API and access base libraries, crypto helpers, cross-environment helpers and other documentation to better familiarise themselves with Polkadot’s ecosystem and blockchain technology. This step showcases the RioChain network to the broader Polkadot community.
RioChain is Built for Polkadot
RioChain is a layer-1 blockchain that provides cross-chain interoperability via its Generic Asset Bridge, which enables the wrapping of other blockchain assets onto RioChain. This enables assets to move at lightning fast speeds with low gas fees via transactions and smart contracts. Later this year, RioChain will be conducting an Initial Parachain Offering in order to compete in an auction for one of the Polkadot parachain slots. Becoming a parachain will greatly enhance RioChain’s cross-chain capabilities, decentralization, and network security. By bridging traditional finance with DeFi through its fiat payment rails, partnerships with financial institutions, and licensed exchange, RioChain will provide unique value for the Polkadot ecosystem.
RioDeFi chose to build RioChain on Parity’s Substrate framework because it enables cross-chain communications and scalable interoperability between blockchains. Substrate allows for forkless upgrades, lower fees, better efficiency, faster speeds, and customizable consensus modules. Substrate’s on-chain governance features are quite robust and resilient.
Polkadot is a layer-0 protocol that provides a secure environment for cross-chain composability of applications and protocols across multiple shards. By parallelizing transactions, Polkadot solves major scalability issues that have hampered blockchain development to date.
Polkadot also introduces a highly advanced, open governance system that will allow the network to innovate and grow at a much more rapid pace than legacy networks. Applications from decentralized finance and energy to gaming and communications will thrive on Polkadot, challenging the centralized platforms of Web 2.0. Polkadot was co-founded by Gavin Wood, the co-founder and former CTO of Ethereum and creator of the Solidity programming language.
Keep up to date with developments in the Polkadot ecosystem and its canary network Kusama by joining their vibrant community.
About RioDeFi
RioDeFi accelerates the mass adoption of digital assets by bridging traditional and decentralized finance. Our vision is a world in which everyone has access to decentralized financial (DeFi) services. We develop solutions that connect banking institutions with blockchain systems. Our applications enable lower transaction fees, faster confirmations, more efficiency, better returns for savings account holders, and global reach.
